Academic Projects
As a student, I never treated my class assignments as just a box to check. My goal was always to walk away from a class with a piece of work I would be proud to put my name on. That drive really just comes from how much I love the production process. Treating every school project like a real-world shoot is what kept me motivated and ultimately led to my 4.0 GPA. Below are some of my favorite academic pieces that show that dedication in action.
Proof of Concept: Hazel Jane
CINEMATOGRAPHER│2025
A proof of concept short film for the thesis project Into the Blues, directed by Laura Simmons. The film brings to life the inspiring true story of Hazel Jane Raines, Georgia's first female pilot. Serving as Director of photography, I worked to establish the tone and pacing for this historic narrative, helping to translate the incredible legacy of a pioneering aviator to the screen.
5x5: Lo Que Dejamos Atrás
VIDEOGRAPHER & EDITOR│2025
In film, a "5x5" challenges you to tell a story using exactly five shots, each lasting five seconds. I built this exercise as a structural moodboard for my thesis, Lo Que Dejamos Atrás. Focusing entirely on the passage of time around a dinner table, this piece experiments with lighting and pacing to distill the core themes of the final film: connection, emotional distance, and lingering absence.
Hookah Tutorial
VIDEOGRAPHER & EDITOR│2025
Created for a storyboard production class, this short-form video tutorial breaks down the step-by-step process of setting up a hookah. The assignment challenged us to translate a hand-drawn storyboard into a polished, practical guide.
Bois de Guaiac: Table Top Spot
VIDEOGRAPHER & EDITOR│2026
Produced as a tabletop assignment for my commercial video class, this spec spot was designed to achieve a premium, luxury aesthetic using an incredibly minimal setup. I built the scene using only a cardboard backdrop, plastic flowers, a log of wood, and fresh citrus.
Sound Design: Up
VIDEOGRAPHER, SOUND DESIGNER & EDITOR│2024
A complete audio rebuild of the legendary opening montage from Pixar's Up. Because the original sequence uses zero diegetic sound, I challenged myself to create a fully reimagined soundscape. This piece includes a quick look at my workflow followed by the final cut, featuring a brand-new score and sound effects built entirely from scratch.
Getting Over You: Visual Poetry
VIDEOGRAPHER & EDITOR│2024
The challenge for my Shot Design final was to tell a story using only symbols and metaphors. I built a visual poem about heartbreak by stitching together TikTok intros from singer Andrés Obregón, pairing that custom voiceover with striking visual metaphors to physically represent the feeling of memories fading over time.
ET SI: Photo Roman
VIDEOGRAPHER & EDITOR│2024
A short narrative project utilizing the "Photo Roman" technique: a style of filmmaking that constructs a story entirely out of still photographs. I directed, shot, and edited this sequence, using careful audio synchronization, stylized crossfades, and film textures to breathe life and motion into the static imagery.
Byredo: Fashion Film
VIDEOGRAPHER & EDITOR│2026
For this project, Mía Pérez brought me on to shoot a fashion film based on a mood board she created about vanishing memories. We wanted to stay away from anything too crisp or perfect, so we leaned into soft lighting and moving the camera to create a hazy, dream-like atmosphere. It’s a sensory piece that visually represents what it feels like when a memory starts to fade.
